Welcome InterFaith Clergy and Spiritual Care Professionals

World Awake is an international inter-collaborative organization of ordained interfaith/interspiritual clergy, spiritual care professionals, respective students, business associates, communities and congregations. In the words of World Awake’s founder Carla Ivison, “We are building bridges to a peaceful world community.”

We see InterFaith InterSpiritual Clergy and Spiritual Care Professionals and those who support them as positive contributors to the shift in consciousness and spiritual connections globally. World Awake supports and connects those who heal and work for peace.

Neither InterFaith nor InterSpirituality are religions. They walk among the religions.

“InterFaith begins when we create a bridge between one set of beliefs and traditions and another. We begin by listening to one another, and to the humanity in all of us. InterFaith emphasizes the universal principles and spiritual compassion taught by all schools of divinity and ethics. Each religion is an instrument for the divine, and together the world’s religions form a glorious symphony. Interfaith is the acceptance and celebration of humankind in all its magnificent faiths, colors, cultures, and traditions. It is the acknowledgment that there is but one light that burns brightly through each faith and within each heart. In its essence, this light is love.” (Rev. Susanna S. Macomb, Joining Hands and Hearts, Simon & Schuster 2003)

To quote Rabbi Joseph Gelberman, founder of two InterFaith seminaries, “Never instead of, always in addition to…”

The term InterSpirituality was coined by Brother Wayne Teasdale in his book The Mystic Heart (New World Library, 1999). InterSpirituality emphasizes the mystical spiritual experience that is available through various sacred practices around the world. When one has a direct experience of the Divine, one’s inner life awakens and a personal transformation occurs where love and peace flow out to the world in engaged service. In this holy state there is a profound knowing that we are all connected, and God by whatever name (or no name) is One.

There is an extraordinary shift in consciousness occurring on the planet. We invite you to connect with us in love, service and joy.

Dates: September 16th, 2019 through December 16th, 2019
Time: 6:00 pm - 9:00pm EST
Format: Zoom
Audience: Ministry and Chaplain students and professionals
Description: Along with attention to the development and refinement of pastoral skills through an action-reflection educational model, trainees will be immersed in exploring issues related to their particular ministry setting and focus. Along with standard CPE learning tools of case-study analysis, group and individual supervision, as well as required readings. Clinical Pastoral Education Training (CPE/T) is an experience in process education that has been honed over several decades and remains responsive to cultural developments that facilitate pastoral growth. The heart of CPE/T is ministry with the sick, injured, and dying, and learning from that ministry. CPE/T trainees learn through reflection, discussion, and evaluation, and are able to apply their learning in future ministry experiences. This type of adult learning is accomplished with other CPE/T trainees and a CPE/T supervisor in a dynamic, small group setting.

The focus of learning in CPE /T is gaining new skills and tools for ministry while identifying particular gifts and goals for ministry. Along with attention to the development and refinement of pastoral skills through an action-reflection educational model, trainees will be immersed in exploring issues related to their particular ministry setting and focus. Along with standard CPE /T learning tools of case-study analysis, group and individual supervision, as well as required readings. CPE / T trainees work in collaboration with their peer group, their CPE supervisor and other staff to achieve their training goals.

Instructor: Rev. Stacy Goforth
Meetings: 2 Tuesday Meetings
Dates: October 29th, 2019 through November 5th, 2019
Time: 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM EST
Format: Zoom
Audience: World AWAKE members and extended community who are seeking direction for their lives.
Description: For anyone on a spiritual path, the most often asked questions are usually "What am I supposed to do with my life?" or "What is my purpose for this life?" If you've ever pondered these questions, a thorough review of who you are; your experiences, passions, influencers, personality and spiritual gifts, can help you step back and look at your life from a more objective perspective, and may give you the insights you are seeking.
Your Divine Plan is a program that I created while serving as a lay leader in the United Methodist Church several years ago to address this issue. Using the Christian scriptures, I researched and defined thirty-three spiritual gifts, developed an assessment tool, as well as worksheets to help participants review who they are and to help them discover where God may be leading them. The accompanying workbook leads you through each exercise, explains spiritual gifts, and helps identify patterns in your life that you may not have noticed. We also cover some of the barriers and obstacles that prevent us from stepping into our plan, and provide encouragement to overcome them.
In the first session, we will review the workbook, discuss spiritual gifts and the exercises, and create a plan for completing the workbook. In the second session, we will review your experiences as you completed the workbook, answer questions, review the things that hold us back and discuss methods for overcoming them. We will also meditate and dedicate ourselves to service.

Description: Anxiety is on the rise in our culture. Our spiritual life should help calm us, not increase our stress, fear, and overwhelm! From her book, Awakening from Anxiety: A Spiritual Guide to Living a More Calm, Confident, and Courageous Life, Rev. Connie will share common errors spiritual people make in their mindset and the way they approach their spiritual practices. These mis-takes can actually increase our anxiety. A few pointers from Yoga philosophy and universal spiritual principles help us shift out of overwhelm and upset, and back to calm within.

We’ll spend time in discussion about these mis-takes that Rev. Connie brings to our awareness, and explore practical applications of yoga philosophy, ancient wisdom, and simple exercises to gently reawaken our inner peace when we’re stressed out.
