Send Peace to our World, !!!name!!!,

Board Chair's Message

On behalf of World AWAKE, we extend our love and prayers during these difficult and challenging times. We have heard from many of you expressing your appreciation to our gatherings online, outreach and the spiritual connections within the communities over the last several months. Our faith has remained resolute and will continue to offer spiritual online gatherings and connecting with our communities across the globe.

As our Founder, Rev. Carla Ivison has said, “We are Building Bridges to a Peaceful World Community.” I align with her vision, dream and wish for our world. It is my honor to walk that path, put it into action and celebrate it fully.

When I share this quote with others, I think of our inner and outer worlds as ‘Peace Filled.’ To have this within ourselves, provides a beautiful foundation to extend it to our beloved brothers and sisters.

I’m in deep gratitude to our Board of Directors for continuing to be so generous with their time, love and dedication to their calling in these unprecedented times. An additional gratitude to so many of our World AWAKE members who have offered to write special Blogs, Online events that we have hosted and sharing their wisdom to help our communities near and far.
Blessings and Gratitude

What’s in Your Spiritual Tool Bag?

Along with being a Chaplain, I am an artist. When I start an art piece I gather my materials and make sure I have everything available for what I think I might need. However, there is always ONE THING I don’t have when I need it! So I keep an art tool bag for just those times.

I made a commitment to myself that I would use this bag as a last resort and will make do with whatever I find in it. I am so well organized I keep an inventory spreadsheet of what is in the bag so I don’t run out of anything because it may cause me anxiety if the item I need is not there. Since the COVID 19 Pandemic I realized that I can’t get all the supplies I need because: a) the art tools are not available online or b) the store where I would purchase is not open.

I also discovered that my spiritual tool bag is missing some items as well. I have poems, prayers, blessings, music, text, lavender to relax, tea candles to burn while I am calming myself or others, breathing exercises, healing hands and the list could go on. I keep looking in the tool bag for something else.

The 20th-century Catholic priest and writer Henri Nouwen once wrote that "Through the spiritual life we gradually move from the house of fear to the house of love". I have let the pandemic create a house of fear in me. I am now consciously looking at ways I can stay in a house of love.

Love is GOD and GOD is Love, I ask you to breathe into the spirit of Love with me.
